Legal expense insurers don’t make money on your premiums
Both these clients suffered serious injuries in road traffic accidents and contacted me having been referred by previous clients. That is the best way we attract work by having so impressed a previous client that they bring someone to us. In both cases we quickly assessed the cases as having good prospects and arranged to work for the clients on a GUARANTEED no win no fee system where ALL our costs are met by the other side’s insurance company upon conclusion of the case.
Despite this, the lying and cheating insurance companies rang the clients and informed them that they had Legal Expenses Insurance and so had to use their solicitors.
Lets get this straight – legal expenses insurance does not exist. It is a con and a scam that just ensures the insurers have “first dibs” on being able to make a quick buck by selling a client’s case for a referral fee of around £900. That is the ONLY money the supposed legal expense insurers get. So they don’t make money from the premiums (often £17-£40 which is retained by the broker) they just make money by this filthy “meat trading” scheme.
This has now been spotted by the Government as being against consumer interests to such an extent that they have banned it from April 2013.
Both these clients had been bamboozled and lied to by insurers who only have a duty to their shareholders!
In short :- DO NOT TRUST YOUR INSURERS. If you have an accident call a reputable solicitor directly as his/her only duty is to YOU.
As I am typing this my ire has now gone “off the scale” following the news that car insurers are now being reported to the monopolies commission for having anti-consumer practices. I will now try to become involved in that process and expose how these huge institutions have been allowed to “tax” motorists and worse still “innocent accident victims” with their scurrilous behaviour. Watch this space.
