I’m Mark Lampkin of Lampkin and Co Solicitors. We at Lampkin and Co look after people who have been injured in any way whatsoever through no fault of their own, be it at work, on the road, in the supermarket or a trip or fall in the street. But another important aspect of our work is looking after people who have been injured as a victim of violence. There’s lots of violent crime nowadays, ranging from minor assaults through to horrific rapes and murders. We look after those people who have suffered those injuries at Lampkin and Co.
The way we do that is by making use of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority Scheme. That’s a scheme set out by the Government where public money is put aside to compensate victims of violence whose lives have been turned upside down by the injuries they have suffered.
Now that scheme is complicated to administer. We have to fill in forms and apply on behalf of clients for that money to be awarded by the Government. We are finding more with the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority are trying to hold onto their money and rejecting valid claims. We then have to get involved in appealing that and taking it through to an appeal process with eventual hearing to get rightful compensation for very deserving cases.
If you’ve been injured through an assault, and you’ve not been agressive in any way, and you think you’re entitled to compensation, contact us at Lampkin and Co Solicitors and we’ll try to take that claim forward on your behalf.
