A 47-year-old man from Pontblydden has been charged with causing the death of a 21-year-old man from Cymau by dangerous driving.
The unnamed man was charged with causing the death of Kieran Arnold by careless driving after consuming excess alcohol.
Mr Arnold sustained fatal injuries in a two vehicle collision on June 17 on the A541 at Pontblyddyn.
The victim, from Cymau near Wrexham, died after his Ford Transit van collided with a silver Land Rover Discovery on Monday 17 June 2013 at 5pm.
Paying tribute to Mr Arnold, his mother Donna said he was a “fantastic son” and “loving big brother”.
She said: “Kieran has been tragically taken from us at the age of 21, and will be sorely missed by every member of his loving family.
“Kieran was a handsome young man who spent most of his time with his long-term girlfriend Lizzie.
“He was well thought of within his work as a plumber and was a hard working lad with drive and ambition, and aspired to start his own business.
“His loss has affected the whole family greatly.”
The man charged with causing his death will appear in court on 21 October.
Calls to improve A541 safety
Following a series of crashes – some fatal – there have been calls to make the windy stretch of road safer.
Expectant mother Christina Barchetti, 35, was killed in a two-vehicle collision last October just yards away from where Mr Arnold died.
Flintshire council’s head of assets and transportation, Neal Cockerton, said back in June: “A detailed design for a scheme of safety improvements is currently being finalised for this stretch of road. We anticipate work will begin on the scheme in September.”
If you sustained injuries in a road accident that wasn’t your fault and we can prove that negligence or blame lies with another party, Lampkin & Co Solicitors can pursue a personal injury claim on your behalf.
